Man airlifted by STARS following break-in at St. Paul motel

A man was transported by STARS Air Ambulance after he appeared to be have been stabbed several times following a report of a break-in at a St. Paul motel, earlier this month.

ST. PAUL - A man was transported by STARS Air Ambulance after he appeared to be have been stabbed several times following a report of a break-in at a St. Paul motel, earlier this month.

At about 10:30 p.m. on May 15, St. Paul RCMP were called to a break-in reportedly in progress at the Kings Motel. When police arrived on scene, they found a 51-year-old man had been injured.

"The victim was provided emergency medical treatment on scene by the RCMP and EMS, and later transported by STARS to Edmonton for further medical treatment," according to information from police.

Shaquille Steinhauer, 28, of Saddle Lake Cree Nation, and Alex Buffalo, 34, of Wetaskwin are facing five charges including aggravated assault, robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, breaking and entering, and mischief under $5,000.

Steinhauer was released from custody after a judicial interim release hearing with a court date set for June 1. Buffalo was also released from custody after a judicial Interim release hearing with a court day set for June 8.
