St. Paul will be boasting some new businesses in the near future, with construction work ongoing at Centennial Plaza on the east end of Town of St. Paul.

Developer Camgill Enterprises Ltd. has confirmed that work is ongoing on a strip mall to be located west of the Wellness Centre, that will include Dollarama, The Source, and liquor store Top Shelf Liquor. That building will likely be about 12,600 sq. ft., said Camgill's director of leasing, Ivan Topolnitsky.

Possession would be turned over to these businesses in 2013, with Topolnitsky predicting, “I would think (it will be) a summer opening for most of these folks."

Work is also ongoing on the base for a potential drug store, to be located north of the Wellness Centre. That building will include 9,000 sq. ft. for the drug store and 3,600 sq. ft. for retail space.

“They're going to set up a temporary dispensary unit at the Wellness Centre," Town of St. Paul CAO Ron Boisvert said of the drug store. “Once their building is ready, they'll move all their stuff over." The temporary dispensary unit will likely take up 500 sq. ft. of space at the north end of the Wellness Centre building, he said.

The spate of building was good news for the town as a whole, noted Boisvert, saying, “It's growth; it's fantastic."
