ST. PAUL – The emergency department at the St. Therese–St. Paul Healthcare Centre will not have a doctor on site from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 13.
There’s a shortage of clinical staff, and Alberta Health Services (AHS) says it is unable to find temporary coverage for that time.
Nurses will still be there to provide triage, assess patients, and send them to nearby hospitals if needed, according to information from the AHS.
In cases of medical emergencies, patients should still call 911. EMS will be available and can take patients to other emergency departments in the area.
For non-urgent health questions, the AHS reminds people to call Health Link at 811, available 24/7.
"AHS continues to work to find clinical personnel coverage for this time period. If coverage is found, this service advisory will be cancelled," reads an Aug. 12 AHS media release. "This is a temporary measure, and AHS is working hard to ensure residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time."
