ST. PAUL – The County of St. Paul is no longer in any fire restriction. On May 28, the County lifted the Level 3 Fire ban it issued earlier in the month.
"Moisture levels have continued to improve within the County to the point where we feel comfortable lifting the restriction," said Jason Storch, director of Community Services for the County.
With the lifting of the Level 3 Fire Restriction, open-air fires now once again allowed on private land and in campgrounds. Open-air fires, except for safe wood campfire, still would require a fire permit.
The lifted restriction does not apply to the Town of Elk Point, the Town of St. Paul, and the Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay who can issue their own fire restrictions.
The County will also be accepting applications for fire permits.
"As the system has been suspended for a few weeks, we ask for residents’ patience and understanding as approvals [of fire permits] may take longer than two business days due to demand," reads a press release from the County of St. Paul.
