A 24-year-old man is facing a number of charges following a pursuit with RCMP on April 17, through Saddle Lake Cree Nation and parts of the County of St. Paul.

At about 8 p.m., RCMP were on patrol in Saddle Lake, where members attempted to stop a vehicle “believed to be related to a break and enter of a St. Paul sporting goods store” in February, where a number of handguns were stolen, according to a RCMP press release.

The vehicle would not stop for police, and a lengthy pursuit followed. The vehicle finally stopped on the south side of Saddle Lake where the driver and passenger ran into the bushes.

“They were located after a lengthy foot chase involving members and the St. Paul Police Dog Services,” says the release.

The 24-year-old driver of the vehicle is facing charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, theft, and failing to comply with probation.

The passenger of the vehicle was released without charges.
