Police seize drugs and guns

SADDLE LAKE - Police have arrested a 39-year-old man following an investigation that lasted several months.

On April 29, St. Paul and Saddle Lake RCMP, with the help of the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services and the Eastern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant on a residence in Saddle Lake Cree Nation.

As a result of the search, RCMP located 65.9 grams of suspected fentanyl, 357 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 97.7 grams of suspected cocaine, two loaded handguns and two rifles.

“RCMP members continue to work very diligently to take illegal drugs and firearms off our streets. This seizure will have a major impact in the local drug trafficking and organized crime within our communities,” said Cpl. Stephen Cunningham with St. Paul RCMP.

The man arrested, Jordan Steinhauer, also had 12 warrants for his arrest has been additionally charged with 27 Criminal Code offences, according to RCMP.

Steinhauer was taken before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded into custody to appear on May 4 at the St. Paul Court of Justice.
