ST. PAUL - Police used a spike belt to stop a vehicle that had fled from St. Paul RCMP, on the evening of June 4.
At about 9 p.m., St. Paul RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle at a business on the east side of town. When police arrived to the location, the truck fled.
"In collaboration with the Elk Point RCMP, the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, and RCMP Police Dog Services, police were able to use a spike belt to stop the vehicle, and find the occupants, who had fled onto a property east of St. Paul," according to information from RCMP.
Two men were arrested and charged.
Justin Robert Gervan, 32, a resident of Andrew, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- No pursuit involved – flight from peace officer
- Fail to comply probation order (x2)
- Resists/obstruct peace officer
- Mischief equal to or under $5,000 – damage to motor vehicle
Kobi Austan Lane Rosichuk, 28, a resident of Bonnyville, is charged with:
- No pursuit involved – flight from peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- Resists/obstruct peace officer
- Fail to comply with release order condition (x3)
- Mischief equal to or under $5,000 – damage to motor vehicle
Both men were remanded into custody following a judicial hearing. They are both set to appear at the St. Paul Court of Justice on June 12.
