SADDLE LAKE – On Oct. 2, Saddle Lake RCMP located a stolen vehicle in a yard while trying to locate a man on warrants.

According to information from Sgt. Robert Burgess with the St. Paul RCMP detachment, while waiting on a tow truck to arrive to recover the stolen vehicle, a member noticed two men walking out of the nearby bushes.

Police determined one of those individuals had outstanding warrants. When RCMP tried to arrest the man, the “second male attempted to obstruct that from occurring,” according to RCMP.

The man allegedly refused to comply, "and was seen discarding what appeared to be controlled drugs from his pockets, those items were later recovered by the arresting member along with Canadian currency. The male was arrested a short time later after beginning to comply,” stated Burgess.

A 57-year-old Saddle Lake man was charged with five offenses. This included two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance and resisting a peace officer.

As of Oct. 3, names of the individuals could not be released as the information was not yet sworn.
