Smitty's restaurant is set to host a fundraiser for the town of Humboldt, involving St. Paul's own hockey team.

A handful of players from the Jr. B Canadiens will be hosts, serve, help seat and play road hockey with kids on the evening of May 5th.

General Manager and Part-Owner of Smitty's Leo Lechovolea says 50% of sales during the evening will go to the families of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team.

"The money is still needed. I know some people say that they've raised enough, but I feel that the team still need the money."

A GoFundMe set up for the victims' families surpassed $15 million before it was taken offline.

"It's going to be a fun night. We'll have some dinner specials and lots of cooks and waitresses to make this a fun event."

Lechovolea says he had a conversation with head coach Joe Young to try and wrangle up some players, and that the team was more than willing to help out.
