Greg Roszell, together with wife, Francine, and children Severin, Tessa and Jesse cut the ribbon to officially open Greg's Value Drug Mart in St. Paul. Joining the celebration were Francine's mom, Barbara Bull, and Greg's father, Terry Roszell.

Greg’s Value Drug Mart officially opened its doors in St. Paul Friday with many well-wishers on hand to offer congratulations to owner Greg Roszell and celebrate that Value Drug Mart is now back on St. Paul’s main street.

St. Paul was without a Value Drug Mart for just 363 days, Kevin Sagert, manager of Value Drug Mart store operations, said in offering his well wishes on behalf of the chain of independently operated drug stores in Alberta and British Columbia.

Roszell got his start in the pharmacy business while still in high school and working for Bob Porozni in his downtown Value Drug Mart location. That was in 1982 and, 37 years later, Roszell said that experience had given him direction in life.

“I owe a lot to you,” Roszell said to Porozni as he prepared to cut the ribbon to officially open the store. “It feels amazing, it really does. It’s been a dream of mine for 30 years.”

“He was in Grade 9 or 10 when we hired him,” Porozni recalled with a sense of pride. “We hired to him to do everything, assisting in every part of the store.”

Roszell, on behalf of himself, his wife, Francine, and children expressed his thanks to everyone worked behind the scenes to make the new store possible and with a snip of the scissors the newest addition to St. Paul’s business sector was official.
