BONNYVILLE RCMP report: Attempted car robbery thwarted

BONNYVILLE – On Nov. 22, Bonnyville RCMP received a call that two suspects in a white GMC truck were attempting to "steal her boyfriend’s buick parked in the street."

“The complainant stated that the passenger of the truck got out and got into the Buick’s driver seat,” explained Bonnyville Sgt. Kim Hillier. “When the registered owner ran out, the truck left.”

The suspect is described as a white male who was 5' 11" tall, weighing about 150-lbs.

Local members conducted multiple patrols but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. Any information the public may have can be provided to the Bonnyville detachment at 780-343-7200 or Crime Stoppers.

Three suspects arrested after fleeing from police

While conducting routine patrols, local members observed two suspicious vehicles and attempted a traffic stop.

Both of the vehicles fled and immediately drove into the ditch while attempting to flee. After multiple suspects ran, RCMP contained the area while the Police Dog Service attended to track them down, which eventually led to the arrest of three suspects.

Robert Cardinal, 36, of Lac La Biche, 28-year-old Corey Gladue of Island Lake, and 26-year-old Alexander Potts of Redwater all face multiple charges including flight from police.

Cardinal and Gladue have been remanded into custody, while Potts was released on an undertaking for court in Bonnyville.

Intoxicated male arrested after being a disturbance

A local bank called the police after a male was "swearing, yelling, and generally being a disturbance."

“An employee asked the male to leave and he complied only to return a short time later,” said Hillier. “Members attended and arrested the male, who was found to be intoxicated.”

The male was released from police custody once sober with a warning.

Stolen items found in La Corey linked to Wainwright

Members of the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) recovered approximately $22,000 worth of stolen property from a residence in the La Corey area.

“The stolen items were linked to an ongoing investigation out of the Wainwright area,” Hillier noted. “The investigation is ongoing.”

Truck stolen from shop

“A complainant reported his truck was stolen from his shop. Footprints leading up from behind the shop to where his truck was,” explained Hillier. “The truck might be damaged as it appears to have backed into an object in the yard. The vehicle was stolen in relation to the previous slight from police where three men were charged. The outstanding vehicle is a 2011 white GMC Sierra with possible rear end damage.”
