Impaired drivers removed from roads in Bonnyville and area

BONNYVILLE – On Friday, Bonnyville RCMP released information detailing five separate incidences where drivers were stopped, screened for impairment, and failed. 

At 1 a.m. on May 21, an RCMP member conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle that had allegedly been driving with no headlights on 50 Avenue in Bonnyville.  

The driver displayed signs of impairment and a Mandatory Alcohol Screening was performed, which resulted in a fail, according to police. 

The 32-year-old driver was issued Provincial Sanctions and his vehicle was impounded. 

The following evening on May 22, also around 1 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver at the 7/11 on 37 Street in Bonnyville.  

The suspect vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was conducted. 

The driver was allegedly displaying signs of impairment and a Mandatory Alcohol Screening was administered by police, which the driver reportedly failed. 

A 34-year-old driver was issued Provincial Sanctions and his vehicle was impounded. 

On May 25, the Bonnyville RCMP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Road 1 in Kehewin at 2:25 p.m. 

Police say the driver displayed signs of impairment, so a Mandatory Alcohol Screening was performed, resulting in a fail. The 41-year-old driver was issued Provincial Sanctions and his vehicle was impounded. 

Later in the evening of May 25, an RCMP member conducted a routine traffic stop on Railway Avenue in Glendon around 10 p.m. According to RCMP, the driver displayed signs of impairment. A Mandatory Alcohol Screening was conducted resulting in “a caution.”  

The 40-year-old man was issued a Provincial Sanction for Impaired Driving.
