Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) is reporting this morning that a brush fire on Highway 660 and Range Road 465 has been downgraded to being under control.

"Matting has been placed to allow vehicles and equipment to access the core of the brush where muskeg-like terrain hinders operations. The northeast corner was excavated, removing much of the peatmoss and roots burning underground," according to a media release.

"Sprinklers are being installed and will spray water continuously in strategic locations. The M.D. of Bonnyville supplied a large water tank to feed the sprinklers. Work continues on cleanup and site remediation. Dry and windy conditions continue to be monitored in anticipation of changing fire conditions."
