LAC LA BICHE - A Lac La Biche family was forced from their house on Wednesday afternoon after a fire started in the attached garage of a Lakeview Estates home.

Lac La Biche County fire crews, peace officers, RCMP and ambulance crews were called to the blaze. There were people inside the home at the time of the fire, but everyone managed to get out safely.

Thick smoke and flames were seen coming from the garage as firefighters tried to keep the blaze from spreading to the rest of the house. A vehicle inside the garage was completely destroyed.

Despite the response by emergency crews, initial reports say the inside of the house was also damaged by fire, smoke and water. Fire officials have yet to disclose the extent of the overall damage.
