Police stand down after being called into Plamondon

RCMP set up a perimeter near a residence they believed a person of interest to be.

At approximately 1:45 pm on Friday, RCMP responded to a complaint about a potentially dangerous situation in Plamondon, which resulted in a large police presence in the area.

At the time, RCMP officials asked the POST not to publish any social media updates, as they may incite a panic or tip off the individual police were seeking.

In Plamondon, RCMP called for a lockdown of the community’ s schools, and set up a perimeter near a residence they believed a person of interest to be. That person was not present. Upon further investigation, RCMP located the person, and after talking with that person, and determined there was no imminent threat.

As the investigation continued further into the afternoon, RCMP discovered that the information given by the original complainant was a fabrication. As of yet, police have been unable to determine who made the original complaint.
