One hundred years after the battle of Vimy Ridge, William McGregor, Second World War veteran from Bonnyville, stood on the very soil Canadian soldiers once battled for.

Bonnyville will be well represented at the 2017 Alberta Challenge. Local hockey player Ali Macaulay has secured her spot on the North Yellow roster and will be heading to Olds for the four-day tournament.

Reid Skrypichayko beat the odds, and was selected out of 150 football players to play for the north team in the Alberta Senior Bowl. Skrypichayko went up against some of Alberta's best during the three-day Senior Bowl north camp.

Greg Sawchuk has thrown his name into the running for reeve of the MD of Bonnyville. On Thursday, April 20, Sawchuk announced his candidacy to residents, sharing his background in leadership and why he believes he is qualified for the position.
