BONNYVILLE – An Ardmore man is facing multiple charges after allegedly being seen abandoning a stolen vehicle after RCMP attempted to initiate a traffic stop on July 15.

At around 4:15 p.m., a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was on patrol in the area of 53 Avenue and 37 Street when they observed a vehicle bearing a licence plate that didn’t match the vehicle.

“A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver attempted to park and leave vehicle in the parking lot of a local apartment complex,” states information provided by RCMP.

The officer identified the driver as 40-year-old Ardmore resident Ryan Girdler, who is reported to be a suspended driver and wanted on warrants. Police also confirmed the vehicle that Girdler was driving at the time of his arrest was stolen.

Girdler was immediately arrested and brought before a Justice of the Peace who released him to appear in court on Aug. 15.

The 40-year-old will face charges of possession of stolen property, driving while prohibited, altering a VIN and possession of Methamphetamine.
