Court Report 3

Preston E. McCarthy took takeout to a whole new level after an argument went south.

The 32-year-old was sentenced to pay a $1,000 fine after taking his frustration one step too far.

On July 1, an officer conducting patrols was flagged down to assist with McCarthy, who had gotten frustrated when the complainant, the aunt of a child she had been watching that day, wanted to speak to the child's mother in private.

Concerned the pair would be talking about him, McCarthy grew angry and became aggressive.

He walked onto the balcony of their apartment where he picked up their barbecue and threw it onto the complainant's vehicle.

Police arrested McCarthy, who was believed to be intoxicated, and released him from custody when he sobered up.

During his appearance in court on Tuesday, Aug. 6, the father of three pleaded guilty to mischief causing damage under $5,000, and was sentenced by Honourable Judge Kathleen Williams to pay a $1,000 fine.

Williams noted McCarthy was fortunate no one was hurt during the incident.
