Those wanting to have some “supernatural fun” before Halloween can head down to the Lyle Victor Albert Centre on Oct. 23 to catch the premier of D&A, a BCHS student-made short film.

A group of Bonnyville Centralized High School (BCHS) students, lead by teacher Chris Cowden, created a “supernatural action thriller” during a one-month summer school course.

“I would call it a supernatural action thriller,” said Cowden. “The students are also going to show a few of their shorts they made in the summer. Then there will be a question and answer session afterwards, so the audience can ask the students questions.”

D&A, which stands for Demons and Angels, is a fifteen-minute short film, written, directed and produced by the students.

“It is demons versus angels. It's a supernatural film,” said Joleen Nahirniak Ducharme, a Grade 10 student who worked on the film.

“The demons are trying to save the world through a girl that doesn't know what is going on. The angels don't like them so they are trying to get her. It is like a game of keep away,” added Rhyse Schulz, a Grade 12 student.

Tickets are being sold at BCHS for $2 and at the door for $3. Funds raised from ticket sales will go to paying the entry fee for film festivals the students plan to enter.

“I think it was fantastic because I got to see the students learning, growing and developing and the same time creating a piece of art,” said Cowden. “The students had a lot of fun. I would say it was a success because most of the students plan to come back next summer to make a different movie. They've got bigger and grander ideas.”

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the film starting at 6:30 p.m.
