Bonnyville GIS arrest suspected drug trafficker

Officers locate methamphetamine

BONNYVILLE - A traffic stop in the Town of Bonnyville led to the arrest of a drug trafficking suspect.

Dennis Budenski, 49 of Cold Lake, was apprehended after Bonnyville RCMP and members of the Bonnyville General Investigation Section (GIS) conducted a traffic stop in Bonnyville. Budenski was known to be wanted on outstanding warrants out of Bonnyville and Cold Lake.

After the arrest, police located suspected methamphetamine and other items consistent with drug trafficking.

Budenski was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and failing to comply with the condition of a release order.

He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. His next court appearance was scheduled for July 16 at St. Paul Provincial Court.

Budenski also has a separate charge pending for possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, stemming from a Bonnyville GIS investigation in August 2018.
