BONNYVILLE – Bonnyville writers gathered to share their writing, support one another’s writing endeavours, and chat about literature in a welcoming and friendly environment.
The Bonnyville Municipal Library hosted the writer's open mic on Jan. 25, and attendees were welcomed into the library’s lounge to share hot beverages and snacks while they enjoyed listening to the brave writers who brought pieces to read out loud.
The audience was engaged and supportive, commenting on each other's writing, clapping, laughing, and chatting with each other.
Some attendees commented on what a great environment it was to get inspired to write and mingle with other literature enthusiasts.
Library programmers Véronique Moreau and Kat Eliason hosted the event, and Moreau herself joined the group and shared her poetry.
Moreau said she was very happy with how the event went and is considering starting up a writer's group in Bonnyville, where writers can come together in a casual setting and share what they are working on.
For anyone interested in getting involved with a writer's group, they can contact Moreau at the Bonnyville Municipal Library.
The open mic drew a diverse group of writers from a published memoirist to youth, to aspiring writers.
The writers' gatherings are welcome to everyone, from beginners to published authors, or to those who just want to come and listen.
Sisters Lisa Pardell and Sara Pardell used the opportunity to practice for their upcoming public speaking event with 4-H. Both had the audience giggling at their creative short stories.
