Bonnyville man faces assault charges after allegedly spraying victim with animal repellent

A local man who is alleged to have sprayed another man with animal repellent on the evening of July 15, won’t speak to assault charges before the courts until October.

BONNYVILLE – A local man who is alleged to have sprayed another man with animal repellent on the evening of July 15, won’t speak to assault charges before the courts until October. 

At 9:45 p.m. on the night of the incident, Bonnyville RCMP members were dispatched to a residence in the area of 46 Street and 51 Avenue.  

It was reported to police that an intoxicate man was screaming and then assaulted another man with an animal repellent spray. 

When officers arrived on scene, they arrested a 62-year-old resident of Bonnyville and took him into custody until he was sober.  

The 62-year-old was released on paperwork compelling him to court on Oct. 3, where he will answer to charges of assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.
