BONNYVILLE - Another lucky area resident recently found out he won big playing the lottery.
In January, Bonnyville resident Munzir Elaman checked his LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket and discovered he had won $100,000 on the Jan. 29 EXTRA draw.
According to a news release from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), and Western Canada Lottery Corporation, the ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven location at 4819 50th Ave. in Bonnyville. Elaman returned to the store to check his ticket the day after purchasing it.
“I always check the lottery numbers online and take my tickets to the store if they won something,” he said. “When I saw that this ticket won $100,000 I could not believe it – it was awesome."
Elaman plans to put his winnings toward the purchase of a house.
“I’ve wanted to buy my own home for a long time,” he said. “This money is going to make a great down- payment.”
Elaman won the EXTRA’s second-top prize by matching the last six digits of the EXTRA number – 2556893.
