BONNYVILLE - Beef prices may be high but this RCMP investigation takes the cake or, in this case, the calf and has RCMP warning cattle producers to keep an eye on their herds.
Bonnyville RCMP are investigating an incident that occurred on July 3 which involved the theft of a calf from the Lessard area, north of Bonnyville.
RCMP report the animal was "butchered" and its remains disposed of.
"Cattle farmers in the MD of Bonnyville are encouraged to check their cattle regularly and help keep an eye on their neighbour’s cattle when they’re able. The matter is still under investigation and anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Bonnyville RCMP or Crimestoppers," reads an RCMP media release.
