Bonnyville RCMP Report

BONNYVILLE – A Bonnyville business was the target of thieves this past week.

A complainant reported to the RCMP on Nov. 6 that Dallaire’s Performance had been broken into.

“The culprits plowed through the fence and stole two vehicles from the property,” explained Bonnyville Sgt. Kim Hillier.

A white 2007 Chevrolet Silverado and a black 2004 Chevrolet Silverado are both missing and the investigation is ongoing.

Break and enters keep RCMP busy

On Nov. 4, a complainant reported a break and enter to his shop.

“The door was left open and two suspects entered and stole a 21-inch TV,” noted Hillier. “One of the suspects was wearing a white jacket and left on foot toward the Crown and Derby. Members and PDS patrolled the area but were unable to locate the suspected.”

The following day, a property in Mallaig was also broken into when the complainant was at work.

Several firearms, electronics, and tools were stolen.

A forensic examination of the property was completed and Hillier requests anyone with information concerning the investigation report what they know to the RCMP.

A napping driving leads RCMP to an arrest

After receiving a report of a possible stolen vehicle in a ditch, members attended to find a male sleeping across the front seats with an empty bottle of alcohol on the passenger floor.

The black truck hadn’t been reported stolen.

“The ensuing investigation led to the 56-year-old male from Kehewin being arrested for refusal of the ASD demand, obstruction, and uttering threats,” Hillier detailed. “He was released on an appearance notice for court in Bonnyville on Dec. 15.”

Abandoned vehicle found on Hwy. 55

Bonnyville RCMP received a report of an abandoned vehicle on Hwy. 55 heading towards Lac La Biche on Nov. 1.

While the vehicle hadn’t been reported stolen at the time, members contacted the registered owner and learned it had been taken from an auto shop in Cold Lake.

According to Hillier, a forensic examination has been completed on the vehicle.

If anyone has any information or possibly picked up hitchhikers on Hwy. 55 on the evening of Oct. 31, they’re asked to contact the Bonnyville RCMP at 780-343-7200.

Fence cut in two locations

A complaint came in regarding unknown suspects that cut a fence in two locations near 55 Ave. On Nov. 6.

Locks were also cut off seacans, which had formerly helped copper wire. After being the target of previous thefts, the wire had been moved. It’s currently unknown if any items were stolen.

Any information or suspicious activity noted near the ATCO building on 55. Ave. would be appreciated, Hillier stated.

Multiple small items were stolen from garage

Hillier said, “A complainant reported that while she was away from her home for the night, her garage had been broken into and multiple small items were stolen. Items stolen include a chainsaw, jerry can, and a watch. This break and enter occurred on Rge Rd. 470 near Township Rd 634.”
