BONNYVILLE RCMP REPORT: Man caught trying to use $100 counterfeit bill

BONNYVILLE - Police are investigating after a male tried to pass-off a counterfeit $100 bill at a local convenience store.

BONNYVILLE - Police are investigating after a male tried to pass-off a counterfeit $100 bill at a local convenience store. 

On the afternoon of May 11, Bonnyville RCMP received a complaint from the local 7-Eleven that a man had tried to use a counterfeit bill. When the male was confronted about the cash, he took the bill and left the store. 

Officers reviewed video footage, however, the male was wearing a mask, hat, and glasses and couldn't be identified. 

Employees of the convenience store didn't recognize the suspect, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Bonnyville RCMP. 

Man arrested for theft of packer

On May 11, RCMP responded to a report of a stolen John Deere packer, which was believed to be located on a rural property north of town. 

Police executed a search warrant and arrested Alfred Tizzard, 42 of La Corey. He has been charged and is set to appear in court May. 27. 

The stolen property was recovered. 

Rural property broken into

A family member showed up at their Hwy. 55 property to find the gate open and locks cut on their sea can. Police were contacted about the incident on May 12. 

The residence was secured and the property owner is still determining what was stolen. 

RCMP continue to investigate. 

Stolen vehicle flees

Police made extensive patrols on May 12 in search of a stolen truck with a flatbed trailer.

The red 1996 Ford Conventional was not located. 

Man charged with 14 offences following break-in

Local RCMP received a report on May 14 about a male suspect who had broken into businesses and vehicles on 55 Ave. 

Officers attended and located the suspect following a foot pursuit. 

Clayton Cardinal, 41 of Kehewin, has been charged with 10 counts of mischief, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, possession of break-in instruments, and two counts of breaking and entering. 

Caught in the act

Police were called after a complainant caught a female in the act of attempting to steal from their vehicle. 

The woman fled in a white SUV.

According to RCMP the suspects did manage to steal a 2009 red Can AM Outlander quad, chain saw, vacuum cleaner, and fuel. 

OHV driver fails roadside 

An Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) driver was caught operating under the influence after police pulled them over for not wearing a helmet and their license plate not matching the vehicle. 

The driver provided a failed roadside sample on May 16, which resulted in immediate roadside sanctions in addition to multiple violation tickets including no insurance, no registration, and driving while suspended.

The next day, an OHV was spotted by police swerving from shoulder to shoulder on Hwy. 41. 

Officers stopped the vehicle and the 19-year-old male driver admitted to recent alcohol consumption. He blew a caution when providing samples of his breath and was subject to immediate roadside sanctions. 

His vehicle was towed and seized and the driver was issued multiple violation tickets. 

Truck reported stolen

Bonnyville RCMP are asking for the public for information regarding the theft of a truck. 

On May 17, police were notified of a truck theft that had happened sometime overnight. The complainant told police he had parked his truck, a red 2006 F-350 in the Western Budget parking lot and woke up to find it was gone. 

Officers are investigating the theft as they gather information and video footage.
