Bonnyville RCMP Report: Police find man passed out in drive-thru

Multiple impaired driving investigations over past week

BONNYVILLE - Local RCMP were called to a restaurant in town after a customer just kept sitting in their truck in the drive-thru lane.

A restaurant employee called police just before 3 a.m. on Aug. 11 about a man who had been sitting in the drive-thru lane in his truck for 11 minutes.

Officers attended and located a 19-year-old male passed out at the wheel in the drive-thru. The man, who was from Maskwacis, blew a fail and was taken to the detachment to provide breath samples, which were over the legal limit.

The man was released to appear in court in Bonnyville.

Crash leads to impaired investigation

A 22-year-old Cold Lake woman failed the roadside screening test after a crash at the east-end of town.

Bonnyville RCMP received a 911 call about a motor vehicle crash at Shaw Estates on Aug. 9. Officers attended and an impaired driving investigation was initiated.

The driver from Cold Lake failed the roadside screening test. She was arrested and taken back to the detachment where she provided breath samples over the legal limit.

She was released on a notice to appear in court in Bonnyville.

Local business tips off police to impaired driver

A call from a local business on Aug. 13 helped RCMP locate an intoxicated driver.

Through investigation, members located the driver and requested a breath sample on the roadside screening device. The driver, a 42-year-old Bonnyville man, failed the roadside test and was taken to the detachment where he provided breath samples over the legal limit.

He was released to appear in Bonnyville court.

Man wanted on warrants found

Police were at a local residence on Aug. 12 for an unrelated call when they found a man who was wanted on multiple warrants. He was also in possession of a stolen license plate at the time.

The man was arrested and released with an appearance notice for court in Bonnyville.

B&E at rural property

Bonnyville RCMP received a call for a one-hit glass break alarm at a property on Township Rd. 603A near Range Rd. 451.

There was an hour and a half time delay. The victim had initially requested that her neighbour go check it out.

Members attended, cleared the property, and determined there was a break and enter.

It's unknown if anything was stolen or if the thieves were scared off by the alarm.

RCMP are asking for any information from the public concerning the suspects in this investigation.

Theft from local cabin

On Aug. 7, RCMP received a report that the garage of a cabin on Township Rd. 593A had been broken into.

Access was gained through the locked garage door, with damage estimated around $200. Approximately $25 of gas was siphoned from a quad, and a men's blue quad helmet valued at $275 was stolen.

Two vehicles stolen from residence

A complainant called RCMP around 8 a.m. on Aug. 14 to report that both of his vehicles had been stolen from his residence.

One was a 2009 white Dodge Ram with rock guard paint on the bottom running boards, and the other was a 2013 white Dodge Journey. Both were stolen from his garage.
