Bonnyville RCMP Report: Police respond to assault with a weapon

BONNYVILLE - A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck with a weapon.

On June 13, around 11:30 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP were called to the scene of an assault where the victim had serious, but not life threatening, injuries. The 28-year-old male victim suffered a cut to left side of his head and was transported to hospital.

With the assistance of a tip from the public, police quickly located and arrested the suspect.

Nathan Kiely, 29 of Bonnyville, was brought before a justice of the peace and released on a $500 no cash release order to appear in court on July 28.

Disturbance at the Cedar Barn

Officers were dispatched to the Cedar Barn on June 13 after a complainant reported the vehicle his son was driving was struck with an open hand by another male, causing damage.

Members located the suspect inside the building and arrested him for mischief. The 23-year-old Lloydminster man was released in the morning on an undertaking to appear in Bonnyville court.

RCMP investigating mischief to multiple vehicles

Bonnyville RCMP received multiple calls during the early morning of June 15 reporting mischief to parked vehicles in town.

The incidents occurred at 44 St. and 47 Ave., 44 St. and 50 Ave., and 47 St. and 44 Ave., as well as to vehicles parked on a local company's property at 51 Ave. and 53 St.

"They are all possibly related and the RCMP are requesting any public information concerning the identities of these culprits to be sent to the Bonnyville RCMP or reported through Crime Stoppers," said Sgt. Kim Hillier in a press release.

Semi-truck parks on Hwy. 28

An RCMP member on patrol came across an unusual roadblock.

While driving on Hwy. 28 on June 15 just before 1 p.m., the member encountered a semi-truck stopped in the middle of the oncoming lane. An ambulance was called to ensure there was no medical emergency after the officer found the driver was agitated, sweaty, confused, and hostile.

Investigation is ongoing to determine if the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time.

Woman hammers away at home

On June 15, RCMP received a call about a female actively destroying the exterior of the complainant's home with a hammer.

Officers attended and found the 39-year-old Kehewin woman with a hammer. She was arrested for mischief under $5,000, as well as failing to comply with a probation order.

The woman was determined to be intoxicated and was released on an undertaking when sober.

Intoxicated man refused to leave

A local business called RCMP late at night on June 18 after an intoxicated man who was refused service wouldn't leave the store.

Members found the highly intoxicated 43-year-old Saskatchewan man. He was arrested for mischief and returned to Bonnyville cells until his was sober.
