BONNYVILLE RCMP REPORT: RCMP respond to a long list of vehicle thefts and break-ins

BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville RCMP responded to a number of reports of stolen vehicles and vehicles that had been broken into, over the past week.

On Oct. 24, a complainant reported a maroon 2005 GMC Sierra was stolen overnight. The truck was later reported by another citizen as abandoned on RR 461. Any information concerning the theft of this vehicle or identity of suspects is appreciated.

That same day, a complainant reported a suspicious vehicle parked at 7-11 with the key in it. The vehicle was found to be stolen from Vermilion.

The 2008 white Chevy Silverado company truck had been stolen by an unidentified young male with dark hair, who had also left behind a car that had been stolen in Edmonton.  

On Oct. 25, a 2015 Black Dodge Ram was reported stolen while the owner was at the Cedar Barn. No suspects have been identified, however the investigation continues.

Also on Oct. 25, a white 2005 GMC Sierra was stolen from the C2 parking lot in Bonnyville, sometime during the day.

On Oct. 26, a complaint was received by RCMP stating a truck had been broken into overnight.

"The complainant states that his video surveillance from his place and his neighbours shows two youth get out of a grey Chevrolet Silverado and enter his vehicle, stealing a pair of sunglasses," according to RCMP. Any information as to the identity of the suspects can be relayed to Bonnyville RCMP or CrimeStoppers.

The same day, a complaint was received regarding unknown suspected trying to steal a 2004 Ford Econoline van outside a business located on 50th Ave near 55 St. in Bonnyville. "The ignition damaged," according to RCMP.

Video surveillance is being collected in an attempt to identify the suspects.

On Oct. 27, a grey 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix was reported stolen. It had been taken at some point over the past few days. The owner had received a call from RCMP stating they had recovered belongings with his name on them.

The vehicle was stolen from the 48th block of 66th Street in Bonnyville, and it has not been found.

MVC results in second vehicle being stolen

On Oct. 25, RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision, where a vehicle was found in the ditch on its roof.

"Members attended and located a male wandering near the scene of the collision," according to RCMP. "The male displayed signs of impairment and the member entered into an investigation based on information provided by the male." 

While the officer was searching for other passengers, the man fled on foot and stole a second vehicle. 

RCMP Members pursued the stolen vehicle, which eventually drove into Moose Lake, and was followed by a short PDS (Police Dog Services) track, and a successful arrest.

Quintin Grey, 27, from Slave Lake, has been charged with multiple offences and was remanded into custody. No injuries resulted from the incident.

Break and Enter near Glendon

On Oct. 24, RCMP was called to a break and enter in progress in the rural area North of Glendon.

"Members attended, and found the suspects getting into their vehicle on arrival, the suspects fled from members. The suspect vehicle was an older white Chevrolet," according to RCMP.

The suspects gained access to the property by cutting a hole in the fence. The property owner attended, and said it did not appear anything had been stolen, however, there was damage to the fence.

The next day, RCMP rushed to a possible break and enter at the same compound north of Glendon.

Cameras show a pickup truck at the entrance gates. When members arrived on scene, the vehicle had left the area. Multiple patrols of the area were completed. 

There was no damage or theft from the property during the second call.

Intoxicated male arrested

On Oct. 23, while members were investigating other complaints, they were told about another incident. A complainant reported that a 38-year-old male from Bonnyville had broken the back entry door of the complainants residence by kicking it.

"The male was located intoxicated, and arrested for mischief," according to RCMP. The man was held until sober, then he was released with an undertaking with the condition to not go back to the address where he had caused the damage. The man has a court date of Dec. 15 in Bonnyville to speak to the charges.

Parcel taken

On Oct. 29, a report of a man stealing a parcel that had been delivered to a front door was received by Bonnyville RCMP. The suspect allegedly left on a bicycle.

"Surveillance footage was obtained, which helped to identify the suspect," according to RCMP. The suspect was located nearby and arrested. He was released on conditions with a court date in Bonnyville.

Suspicious person

A report of a suspicious person was received by RCMP on Oct. 24. The person was on a mountain bike, and was seen in the neighbourhood of 44th Ave. and 43rd St.

"The suspicious male was looking into parked cars," according to RCMP. The man was wearing a jacket with a backpack. Multiple patrols made but the suspect was not located.

ATVs missing

A report of quads being stolen from a seasonal residence at Muriel Lake was received by RCMP on Oct. 25. A damaged door to the garage was also noted at the property.

The ATVS are described as a black Polaris Ranger RZR and a dark blue Yamaha YFM400. The investigation remains open and tips from the public are being sought.
