Bonnyville RCMP Report

A Bonnyville man's identity was stolen, but a local bank caught the suspect in the act.

On March 4, a local man attended the Bonnyville RCMP detachment to report his identity being used to transfer money out of his bank account.

The victim was contacted by his bank informing him a man with an Alberta driver's license that contained the victim's info but the suspect's photo, as well as a medical card, was denied his request to transfer funds after failing to answer security questions properly.

The suspect is described as a tall man with grey hair and a Scottish accent.

RCMP are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information on this incident or the suspect to contact the detachment at 780-343-7200.

Shoplifter arrested by local RCMP

On March 1, Bonnyville RCMP were called to the local 7-Eleven regarding a female believed to be shoplifting from the store.

Members located and arrested a 29-year-old Bonnyville female who was wanted on outstanding warrants out of Edmonton. She was arrested for mischief and theft under $5,000, and was released on an undertaking with conditions not to attend the convenience store.

She is scheduled to appear in court on April 7.

Impaired driver at the 7-Eleven

A 46-year-old Innisfail man was charged with impaired operation and impaired over .08 after RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver at the local 7-Eleven on March 5.

Officers found the suspect vehicle at the gas station and arrested the man after he provided a sample that failed on the roadside screening device.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court April 7.

Officers respond to local restaurants

On Dec. 6, RCMP responded to a 911 call about an aggressive man at the Bonnyville Mr. Mike's restaurant. The caller reported a man didn't pay for a meal after claiming he forgot his wallet and would come back later to settle his tab.

Officers received a second complaint from Nick's Lounge about an unwanted male, later confirmed to be the same person as the prior incident.

A 37-year-old Cold Lake male was arrested and charged for obtaining food or lodging fraudulently and possession of a controlled substance. He was released on an undertaking and will appear in court April 21.
