BONNYVILLE RCMP REPORT: Stolen vehicles flee police

BONNYVILLE - RCMP were on the hunt for a suspicious vehicle when a call came in about a stolen red GMC Sierra. 

On April 14, police were conducting patrols in the Glendon-area while investigating a report of a suspicious white Kia Soul that had been on a private property and was involved in an attempted vehicle theft. 

While searching for the Kia, officers were notified of a stolen red GMC Sierra in the vicinity. 

Police located both vehicles, however the suspects fled from RCMP. 

Driving a stolen vehicle while impaired and suspended

While patrolling in Kehewin on April 10, a local officer located a stolen vehicle being driven by "an impaired, suspended driver," described Sgt. Kim Hillier in an email. 

The 38-year-old Edmonton female was charged for possession of property obtained by crime in addition to provincial sanctions for impaired driving.

She is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 21. 

Making themselves at home

A woman was arrested after police were called about a woman walking into someone's house and asking to borrow a cellphone. 

On April 11, the complainant helped the female, however, the suspect refused to return the phone. 

Officers attended and arrested the female who was taken to cells and released. She is scheduled to appear in court June 1. 

RCMP investigating vehicle theft

A rural resident woke up to discover his SUV was gone. 

On April 14, police were contacted after a 2015 Grey Dodge Journey was stolen from a residence in the area of Hwy. 881 and Twp. Rd. 625.

A stolen truck was found abandoned nearby. 

Police are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with any information to contact the detachment at 780-373-7200. 

Trailer stolen from rural property

On April 14, the owner of a trailer attended the Bonnyville detachment to report it had been stolen from his property in the area of Twp. Rd. 624 and Range Rd. 480. 

The complainant had noticed the locked gate of his lot was open and his trailer, which is described as a black with checker-plated aluminum fenders, with a bend in the back left-side of the trailer, a worn-down front plug, and a 5,000-lb winch on the front, was missing.
