BONNYVILLE RCMP REPORT: Woman charged with arson following fire in Kehewin

BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville RCMP have arrested and charged a female following a structure fire in Kehewin. 

Police were asked to attend a structure fire in Kehewin on April 30 that was suspected to be arson. After interviewing witnesses, RCMP were able to locate and arrest a 26-year-old Kehewin woman. 

She was charged with arson and was release on a $1,000 no cash promise to pay and is scheduled to appear in court June 1. 

Company vehicle stolen

Local officers were contacted on May 3 after a company vehicle was stolen from the NOVA RPM yard. 

The suspect wasn't located by attending police, and the vehicle, a white Chevrolet Silverado, remains unfound. 

Items stolen from Fort Kent home

Fort Kent residents reported a break-in to their home on the morning of May 3. 

Bonnyville RCMP attended the scene and are continuing to investigate the theft of jewellery and other personal items. 

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious is asked to contact the local detachment. 

Police arrest intoxicated man yelling in the street

A man walking through traffic yelling at posts was later arrested and identified as 34-year-old Jesse Youngchief. 

It was 12:17 p.m. on May 4 when police were called about an intoxicated individual on the road. Officers attended and the suspect fled the area on foot before he was apprehended by police. 

As he was being placed in the back of the police car, the suspect, who was later identified as Youngchief, kicked and damaged the door.

Youngchief has been charged with resisting arrest, two counts of mischief, and disobeying a court ordered condition. 

He was released on a $500 no cash promise to pay and is scheduled to appear in court on June 1. 

Tools stolen from Boon Energy

Boon Energy reported to police on May 5 a significant number of miscellaneous tools had been stolen. 

Investigating officers are asking the public for any information about the incident. 

Collaboration leads to results

Working with the Cold Lake RCMP detachment, Bonnyville officers were able to locate an impaired driver in the Fort Kent area.

On May 5, a 43-year-old female from Saddle Lake was processed under provincial sanctions and was released with a $1,000 fine, a 30-day vehicle seizure, and a 90-day immediate license suspension. 

Quad stolen

A 2015 red Honda TRX quad was reported stolen out of the Range Rd. 453 and Twp. Rd. 624 area on May 5. 

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact local RCMP. 

Working together

On May 5, RCMP received multiple complaints about an erratic driver on Hwy. 28 headed toward Cold Lake. 

Officers located the driver of the suspect vehicle who was wanted on outstanding warrants. 

The male, who was identified as 20-year-old Jarell Moyah, was arrested in Cold Lake through the joint cooperation of the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit, Bonnyville GIS, Police Dog Services Unit, and the Bonnyville and Cold Lake RCMP. 

Moyah was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resist arrest, assault on a police officer, possession of methamphetamine, and flight from police.
