Bonnyville RCMP Report: Youths caught climbing school roof

BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville RCMP are asking parents to discuss the dangers of climbing on buildings with their kids.

On July 31 just before 9 p.m., a citizen called RCMP to report four youths, around 13 to 14-years-old, climbing onto a school roof. There were no adults nearby.

A member attended and the kids took off. According to an RCMP press release, officers assisted one youth who was stuck on the roof and scared to get down.

"Parents should discuss the dangers of this type of activity with their children. It is also an offence under the Criminal Code," said Sgt. Kim Hillier in the release.

Suspicious vehicle near Microtel

Bonnyville RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle near the Microtel in town on July 31.

The complainant told police a male and female exited the vehicle, described as a Nissan with bright yellow doors.

Officers attended and, through investigation, it was found that the driver was prohibited. The driver was charged for driving while prohibited and the vehicle was seized for 30 days.

The 40-year-old Edmonton man was released with a notice to appear in court.

Stolen vehicle recovered

RCMP attended a residence on Aug. 1 for a follow-up investigation, and found a stolen vehicle in the driveway.

The white Dodge Ram had been reported stolen a few days earlier. The vehicle was recovered and is being processed to gather evidence to assist in identifying suspects.

Driver arrested after fleeing

A driver who fled from police was later tracked down and arrested.

On Aug. 5 around 8 p.m. a Bonnyville RCMP member was leaving Kehewin when they noted a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed.

When the officer tried to pull the vehicle over it fled, an RCMP release said, however the member was able to get the license plate number.

"The member disengaged his interaction with the vehicle and was able to investigate through other means."

The driver was determined to be 44-year-old Bob White from Kehewin. White was arrested and held for a judicial interim release hearing where he was remanded into custody.

Break-in at Pelican Storage

Police were called to a break and enter in progress at Pelican Storage on Aug. 4 at 3:20 a.m.

The business' monitoring company viewed one male suspect enter through the south fence line, which had been cut.

Officers attended and cleared the compound, but the suspect had fled. The investigation is ongoing in an attempt to identify the suspect.
