Break and enters at local businesses

Over $10,000 in damage and “thousands of dollars worth of tools were stolen from Nelson Lumber early Monday morning, according to an RCMP press release.

RCMP received a call at 7:25 a.m. on Sept. 15, advising them the store had been broken into overnight.

Later that morning, at about 8 a.m. RCMP received a complaint from the Home Hardware in Bonnyville that an attemped break and enter happened at the business overnight, but that no entry was gained. There was, however, damage to the front and back doors of the business.

Bonnyville RCMP is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the east end of Bonnyville on the night of Sept. 14, or the early morning hours of Sept. 15, or who may know of the suspicious sale of tools to contact RCMP.

Also, on Sept. 11, RCMP said a “suspicious male” had been reported as walking around the fence line of Nelson Lumber before jumping over the fence and breaking into the building.

The RCMP report said officers responded to the complaint but were unable to locate the suspect.

The male suspect is described as 5'6” to 5'9”, with a medium build, wearing a camouflage jacket or shirt with dark pants and a mask.

The RMCP is asking anyone with knowledge of either of these two events to contact the local detachment at 780-343-7200.

The Bonnyville Pharmasave was broken into early Friday morning and damage was done to the property.

Local RCMP responded to the complaint of a commercial alarm at the Pharmasave around 12:52 a.m. on Sept. 12. Members observed that the back door was unlocked, entry to the store had been gained and the premises had been damaged.

Interior walls had been damaged and money was stolen from a neighbouring business.

According to the Bonnyville RCMP press release, members made extensive patrols but were unable to locate any suspects.
