BONNYVILLE – A full day of events will mark Canada Day in the Town of Bonnyville.

Canada Day celebrations will include a pancake breakfast, free entrance to the museum, a parade and live performance during the Party in the Park where a steak dinner will be available.

To start Canada Day off on the right foot, a pancake breakfast will be dishing up meals in the Sobey’s parking lot from 8-11 a.m.

The Bonnyville and District Museum will also be offering free admission from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A formal ceremony with local dignitaries and flag raising will take place at the museum at 1 p.m.

Shortly after, the sidewalks along main street will start filling up as families and community members find their spot in preparation for the Canada Day parade that will travel down 50th Avenue. The parade will officially get rolling at 3 p.m.

Starting out at the rodeo grounds, the parade will travel east down Main Street continuing until 48th Street where floats will switch directions and begin heading towards the Bonnylodge. The Canada Day floats will continue making their way through the neigbourhood along 49th Avenue to Lakeshore Drive before returning to the rodeo grounds.

The celebration will continue at 4 p.m. at Little Leap Park.

The Party in the Park will have entertainment for all ages including clowns, a magician, bounce houses, balloon artists and more, with live music taking over the stage beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Musicians lined up to perform in Bonnyville include headliner Doc Walker, who will be taking the stage at 10 p.m.

Warming up the crowds beforehand will be Métis Fiddler Alex Kusturok performing at 7:15 p.m. and the Main Street Band who are set to start playing at 8:30 p.m.

A fireworks display will light up the night sky over Jessie Lake at dusk.

For those not wanting to leave the festivities for a snack, a full steak dinner with all the fixings will be served up in the park by the Bonnyville Fire Department and The Rolling Barrage and Friends for $15.

A portion of the sale from the dinner will go to help support PTSD awareness for first responders including Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, police and emergency healthcare providers through The Rolling Barrage PTSD Foundation.

Steak Dinners will be served until 9 p.m., while supplies last.

Merchandise for The Rolling barrage will also be available for purchase with money raised also supporting the PTSD foundation.

Beer Gardens will be open from 5-11 p.m. Beverages from local breweries Journey North and Sonny’s for $6 will be sold in the beer gardens.

A motorcycle show and shine will also run just north of the Little Leap Park from 6-9 p.m.
