Charges laid in collision that sent one woman to hospital by air ambulance

Charges have been laid against an Edmonton man in relation to a two-vehicle collision that occurred north of the Town of Bonnyville at the intersection of f Highway 41 and Secondary Highway 660.

BONNYVILLE – An Edmonton man is facing charges related to careless driving, speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign, following a two-vehicle collision that resulted in one woman being airlifted to hospital. 

The incident took place in the afternoon of June 2 at the intersection of Highway 41 and Secondary Highway 660, just north of the Town of Bonnyville.

Bonnyville RCMP and other emergency services were dispatched to the serious collision at 3 p.m., resulting in the closure of portions of the highway. 

“An RCMP investigation revealed that the driver of a 2014 Ford Mustang was at fault for the collision, which saw one female passenger air lifted to an Edmonton area hospital for treatment of her injuries,” states information provided by RCMP. 

The 62-year-old driver from Edmonton was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving carelessly, which carries a fine of $567.  

He was further issued violation tickets for driving at an unreasonable speed, a $243 fine, and failing to stop at a stop sign, another $405 fine.
