The City of Cold Lake is getting into the recycling business by offering two drop-off locations.
Residents will soon be able to take advantage of two recycling drop-off sites, one at the Cold Lake Energy Centre, and another at 4811 50 St.
Paper, cardboard, plastics, aluminum cans, and tins will be accepted at these locations.
“This is an exciting venture for the City of Cold Lake, as we branch out into a more convenient recycling process for the community,” said Mayor Craig Copeland in a press release. “These sites are meant to give residents a convenient place to drop-off recyclable items, in addition to regular curb side recycling.”
Construction is underway at the Cold Lake Transfer Station for a new materials recycling facility, where recyclables will be sorted and bailed.
Prior to their decision to take on this endeavour, the city was contracting recycling processing services through the Cold Lake Recycling Centre. This agreement will be expiring at the end of September.
According to the city, the Cold Lake Recycling Centre is expected to remain open, and residents shouldn’t see any changes to their bi-weekly recycling pick-up.
