A 22-year-old Cold Lake male and his 20-year-old female companion were arrested on Friday after fleeing from police.
It was around 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 when Bonnyville RCMP attempted to pull over a vehicle on Hwy. 657 and Hwy. 41.
S/Sgt. Sarah Parke said the license plate wasn’t registered and the vehicle wasn’t insured, which sparked the traffic stop.
The suspects fled from police but were later arrested after a spike belt was deployed closer to town.
The Cold Lake male was arrested without incident and was charged with flight from police, three counts of breaching conditions, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving without a license, and possession of methamphetamine.
The 20-year-old passenger was also arrested and charged with possession of meth, among other charges.
Shoplifter turns himself in
A male that shoplifted from the Bonnyville Liquor Depot on Sunday, Aug. 11 turned himself into police after RCMP shared an image requesting the public's assistance identifying the suspect.
According to RCMP, the male entered the store at 10:56 a.m., walked to the southwest corner in the cooler, took a case of beer, and walked out without paying.
On Monday, Aug. 26, police confirmed the male had turned himself into the detachment and RCMP were no longer seeking the public's assistance.
Public tips help police locate young suspects
Bonnyville RCMP were on the hunt for three suspects after an Aug. 18 report of break and enters occurring in the Muriel Lake area.
According to Parke, information provided by the public helped police identify three youths who had broken into five cottages and residences in the area.
Parke said the youth mostly stole alcohol and charges are currently pending.
Man being charged following assault
A 32-year-old Bonnyville male has been charged with choking and assault after police were called about a disturbance on Aug. 18 at 3 a.m.
Breaching statutory release conditions
A 42-year-old Bonnyville male will serve the remaining months of his prison sentence behind bars after breaking the conditions of his statutory release.
RCMP responded to a complaint just after midnight on Aug. 22.
“We ended up dealing with a 42-year-old male from Bonnyville on a statutory release from jail As a result of the disturbance he was causing, he was also quite high on drugs, he was breaching his statutory release,”Parke stated.
Kevin Madden will remain in custody until the end of his sentence in Jan. 2020.
Stealing a wheelchair ends in arrest
Bonnyville RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious male in a wheelchair by Home Hardware.
Officers located the 43-year-old Bonnyville male and determined the wheelchair was actually property of the Bonnyville Health Centre.
The man was arrested and charged with theft and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 1.
Truck stolen from rural property
Sometime overnight on Aug. 25, a white Chevy Silverado was stolen from Range Rd. 455 in the area of Twp. Rd. 620. The truck is described as white with barbed wire decals on both sides, and a black slip tank in the bed. At the time of the theft, the license plate read 96F 318.
