A male in his early 20s was pronounced dead by EMS responders early this morning outside the Glendon Hotel, according to a press release from the RCMP.

The Bonnyville RCMP detachment received a call at 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 26, reporting a male on the ground outside the hotel. After responding to the call, the victim was pronounced dead. RCMP Forensic Identification Section is currently examining the scene. Several RCMP officers remained on the scene late Wednesday afternoon. A large section of downtown Glendon was cordoned off with yellow police tape.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim, unidentified at this time, was involved in a physical altercation with two other males.

Shortly after the initial phone call, a male in his 30s voluntarily turned himself in at the Bonnyville Detachment. He is currently in custody, though no charges have been laid.

An autopsy will be completed Oct. 27 in Edmonton to confirm the victim's identity and cause of death.

RCMP are looking for witnesses or information related to the crime, and ask that anyone with information relating to the investigation call the Bonnyville RCMP, or Crime Stoppers, 1-888-222-TIPS.

Updates will be posted on the Bonnyville Nouvelle website.
