Deborah Doonanco was not present at her latest hearing in Bonnyville provincial court on July 15, which was adjourned until Aug 5.

The 51-year-old Donnanco, a retired school teacher, formerly with Northern Lights School Division, faces charges of first-degree murder, arson and interfering with a dead body.

The body of 44-year-old Kevin Feland, Doonanco's common-law husband, was discovered by members of the Glendon Fire Department, after the local authority responded to a residential fire in Glendon on May 25.

The charges come as the result of an investigation from RCMP Major Crimes Unit and the Provincial Fire Investigator.

Doonanco first appeared in Bonnyville provincial court via CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre in June 3. She acknowledged the charges against her and was eventually released on $20,000 bail with conditions.

Lawyer Brian Wood represented Doonanco's lawyer Brian Beresh in court on July 15, in which the hearing was adjourned until Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. in Bonnyville.
