Early morning Bonnyville break-in leads to quick arrest

RCMP REPORT

BONNYVILLE – The Bonnyville RCMP have made an arrest in an early morning break and enter at the local Legion.

On Monday, Feb. 3, RCMP members were called to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 183 and, thanks to information from the complainant, security cameras, and neighbourhood inquiries, they quickly determined the culprit was still inside the building searching for valuables.

Police surrounded the Legion, and the suspect fled out of a side door. A short foot pursuit ensued, and the man was quickly located inside a nearby residence.

Randy Cardinal, 32, from Glendon, has been charged with multiple offences, including break and enter, possession of break-in tools, obstruction, and possession of property obtained by a crime.

In the course of their investigation, RCMP members also charged Cardinal with mischief to another local business, A-OK Shoes.

Cardinal was released on a $1,500 no cash release document and is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Feb. 25.
