BONNYVILLE - RCMP in Bonnyville have reported responding to several vehicle thefts and break-and-enters during the first week of December, which comes on the heels of several vehicle thefts and break-ins reported the week prior.

Bonnyville RCMP responded to five break-and-enters between Dec. 1 and 8. Locations targeted include a local church, a business on 52nd Avenue, a garage on the 4100 block of 43 Ave., another garage on the 3800 block of 40 Ave., and a residence on the 5700 block of 51 Ave.

During an incident on Dec. 6, a resident called RCMP "to advise he could hear noises outside his house and noted the side door to his garage was open and the lights were on," according to information from police. Members attended the scene and cleared the garage, but the suspects reportedly fled prior to police arriving on scene.

Several vehicle thefts were also reported in early December.

Stolen vehicles include a white 2009 Forest River Sandpiper camping trailer from Bonnyville Beach, a grey 2015 Dodge Durango from the 4100 block of 48 Street, a black 2005 GMC Sierra from the 5000 block of 66 Street, a white 2006 Chevrolet Silverado from the 5800 block of 50th Ave, and a maroon 2008 Chevrolet Silverado from the 5100 block of 50 Street.

In a separate incident, residents in Beau Vista likely thwarted an attempted vehicle theft as three individuals were allegedly seen trying to break into a Chevrolet Silverado. Fortunately, the vehicle was locked, preventing access.

Other calls

On Dec. 1 at 6 p.m., RCMP responded to a call at a trailer park north of town where a man refused to leave a residence. Subsequently, a second call reported the man had allegedly thrown an axe through a window, according to information from police.

Upon arrival, RCMP located the man walking outside and arrested him.
