Halfe arrested and charged in armed robbery

RCMP have located and arrested Preston Halfe in relation to the Jan. 15 armed robbery in Bonnyville.

BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville RCMP and the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) have arrested and charged 22-year-old Preston Halfe in relation to the armed robbery at Cougar Fuels on Jan, 15. 

Halfe was arrested on Jan. 27 without incident and has been charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and disguised with intent to commit an offence. 

The Goodfish Lake male has been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Feb. 4. 

The dark blue Dodge Caravan has been recovered, and RCMP are no longer searching for this vehicle. 

“Our investigation will continue as we have four other suspects still out there,” said S/Sgt. Sarah Parke in a release. “We're asking the public to take a look at the four remaining suspects and give us a call if you recognize them.”
