Jealousy gets out of hand

Court-Report-3-702x506

BONNYVILLE - Fraser Lee Pearson admits he let jealousy get the better of him.

He was sentenced to 48 days in jail after pleading guilty to mischief to property, and failing to attend court during his Jan. 28 Bonnyville Provincial Courthosue appearance.

Pearson, who was released from the Peace River Correctional Centre on time-served, appeared via CCTV.

Crown prosecutor Neil Thomson outlined what took place at a Bonnyville motel on June 4, 2018.

Bonnyville RCMP responded to two 911 complaints about a domestic disturbance in progress. Pearson and a female were arguing at the local motel when the accused took her phone and smashed it on the floor.

The matter was set for trial, and Pearson failed to appear in court.

He was arrested on warrants on Dec. 27, 2019.

As of his appearance in court, he had served his time in custody.

Honourable Judge Cheryl Arcand-Kootenay agreed with the joint submission for 48 days in prison as a sentence.

According to his defense lawyer Jana Skarsen, Pearson intends to reside in British Columbia once he is released from jail so it's unlikely he will be seeing the victim again.
