LAKELAND - The LICA team has come up with a creative way to engage with the community all summer - an app-based scavenger hunt.

Stephanie Sampson, LICA’s Education and Outreach Coordinator, said LICA is celebrating its 25th anniversary and wants to engage with the community and continue to promote environmental stewardship.

“This event was created to bring awareness to LICA as an organization, and to get the community outside and active while learning about the importance of what our organization does. Our grand prize is an 11” inflatable paddleboard in a wood grain finish. All participants have a chance to win. If you participate in the scavenger hunt over the summer, you are entered,” said Sampson.

She said the LICA membership and supporters grow each year, and the scavenger hunt is a great way to not only connect with the community, but to encourage participation in events, programs, and campaigns put on by LICA.

The scavenger hunt is free, and anyone within LICA’s region can participate. To find out if you are within their region, you can check out a map they have on the LICA website.

“[All you have to do] is download the Actionbound app, which is free, and search for ‘LICA.’ The hunt includes different tasks and questions, with more released every two weeks, until the end of the summer. Those participating will be entered in the draw for our grand prize, which will be announced at our Fall Garden Market on Sept. 13,” said Sampson.

She said participants can enter as a team, or as individuals. Teams will be given one entry into the draw.

“We want to remind participants to use their real names, so that we can verify their win if they are drawn,” said Sampson.
