A 33-year-old Edmonton man was pronounced dead after fire crews pulled a vehicle from the Beaver River north of Ardmore June 13.

At approximately 6:10 a.m., fire and police crews were called to Highway 892 near the Beaver River Bridge after a passing motorist discovered a blue GMC Sierra in the river, according to emergency responders.

Fire crews arrived first on the scene, pulling the vehicle from the river, at which time the single occupant, who was visiting family in the area, was pronounced dead, according to Cpl. Lise Bradette of the Cold Lake RCMP.

"He appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle," she said.

According to Brian McEvoy, fire chief for the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority, the collision occurred "on the curve south of the bridge and resulted in the vehicle coming to rest in the water of the Beaver River."

Fire departments from Fort Kent, Ardmore, and Bonnyville responded to the call and were on scene within 12 minutes of being dispatched, said McEvoy.

Bradette said the investigation was ongoing. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to Sgt. Keith Bott.

Cold Lake RCMP request anyone who recalls seeing a 2006 blue GMC Sierra truck pulling a trailer with a yellow quad in it between the evening of June 12 and the discovery of the collision site the next morning to contact them at (780) 594-3302.
