MD of Bonnyville Chief Administration Officer (CAO) Ryan Poole officially resigned last week, stating a need to pursue other opportunities.

MD Reeve Ed Rondeau accepted the resignation on May 23.

“It is always a surprise,” said Rondeau. “Everyone needs to move on at one time or another to bigger and better things and I guess that is his plan.”

Poole's official end date will be Friday May 30. Council plans to appoint Gordon Fullerton, the current Director of Finance and Administration, as acting CAO and begin the process of searching for a replacement.

“I had no problems with Ryan. We worked well together and I wish him the very best. I think he was good at what he was doing,” said Rondeau. “We ended on good terms. We are going to proceed and put out ads for a new CAO, as well as look at head hunters to try and find someone to fill the void that Ryan has left.”

Poole says he plans to take some time off before deciding whether he wants to continue in the municipal government sector or pursue another career.
