Two local men were sentenced to pay fines after police found drugs and a firearm during a residential search warrant
Nigel Michael Farrell and Chadwick E. Milnthorp were arrested after police executed a search warrant on Milnthorp's Bonnyville residence on April 12.
Farrell was living with Milnthorp at the time officers searched the house. In his bedroom, officers found 8.73-grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
During their appearance in Bonnyville court on Tuesday, Aug. 27, Farrell pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine while his co-accused, Milnthorp, pleaded guilty to possession of Gamma-hydroxybutyrate, more commonly known as GHB, and careless storage of a firearm.
Milnthorp's charges stem from the same April search warrant. Bonnyville RCMP located 10-millilitres of GHB in a common living area, and a 22-calibre rifle in his bedroom.
Honourable Judge Kathleen Williams agreed to a joint submission requiring the pair to each pay $800 in fines.
She encouraged Milnthorp and Farrell to seek treatment for their addictions issues, before agreeing all items will be forfeited to the Crown for destruction.
