BONNYVILLE - Excitement is building for the 2nd Annual Victor Ringuette Sportsman Dinner, a collaborative effort between the Junior and Senior Pontiacs and the Bonnyville Minor Hockey Association, which is scheduled for Feb. 23 at the Bonnyville & District Centennial Centre Fieldhouse.

The event features storytelling, delicious cuisine, lively music, games, fundraising for local not-for-profit organizations, all while being hosted by Edmonton Oiler’s alumni Georges Laraque, known for being a formidable fighter during his heyday.

“It's a night for everybody to come out and just have a lot of laughs, a lot of fun, listen to some great music, a great guest speaker, and just grow the event as we go,” says Pontiacs Associate General Manager Neil Langridge.

Honouring the memory of the late Bonnyville philanthropist Victor Ringuette, the Sportsman Dinner emphasizes the values and causes that were dear to Ringuette's heart. The proceeds will go to the Junior and Senior Pontiacs hockey teams, along with the Bonnyville Minor Hockey Association getting a share too.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by a catered dinner at 7 p.m., leading into the main program of the night.

Former Edmonton Oiler Laraque was once known for being a fierce fighter on the ice. “In his retirement from the NHL, he's become very refined and very well respected,” says Langridge.

The entertainment lineup also includes live music by the talented wedding and party band, The Oddibles, bringing an upbeat atmosphere to a night of celebration. The event will also feature a variety of table games, and live and silent auctions, offering attendees the chance to win exciting prizes. It will conclude with a dance to wrap up the festivities.

Individual tickets are available for $125 each and groups can purchase tables for eight for $800.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased on the Pontiac’s website.
