Princess Emma celebrates a milestone

BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville's own princess celebrated a milestone this week, and used the opportunity to raise money for a good cause.

Five-year-old Emma Humphreys was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas (DIPG) two years ago on May 28. She was given only months to live, but overcame the odds.

In honour of her fight and resilience, her family organized Toonies for 2 Years on May 28 to raise funds for a cause close to Emma and her family’s heart.

“We tried to raise as much as we possibly could to give back to the Bonnyville Health Foundation,” explained Cathie Humphreys, Emma’s mom. “They’ve been an integral part in Emma’s care and they’ve wanted to help in every aspect of it. They’re a huge part of our lives.”

Along with residents driving by with donations, local RCMP members and car clubs arranged parades in Emma’s honour.
